UC Travel Coverage 2026

Coverage that travels with you.

If travel is on the horizon, your UC Blue & Gold HMO1 is ready to support your adventures with coverage for urgent and emergency care. Before taking off, get familiar with resources for care when you're away from home.

Travel within the United States (outside California)

Teladoc2: Speak with a board-certified doctor 24/7 via phone, tablet or computer for nonemergency treatment. You can also schedule a virtual therapist3 visit.

Nurse Advice Line: Call the number on your member ID card for 24/7 phone support from a registered nurse. The nurses can help you determine what type of treatment you need.

Urgent care center: For nonemergency conditions and injuries, visit the nearest urgent care center.

MinuteClinic: Nonemergency health care services at select CVS stores throughout the United States.

Life-threatening emergency?

Call 911 or go to the closest hospital emergency room. For emotional distress or a mental health or substance use crisis, call or text 988 for immediate support.

If you receive urgent or emergency care while away from home, notify your primary care physician (PCP) as soon as possible. Your PCP directs all your care while you’re at home in California and will need to refer you for any follow-up specialist care. Keep a copy of all itemized billing statements you receive for any care received outside of California or the U.S. You will need to submit these to Health Net for reimbursement.

Travel outside the United States

When you’re traveling outside the United States, the UC Blue & Gold HMO covers only urgent and emergency care. You should go to the nearest facility for treatment.

Travel immunizations

Your UC Blue & Gold HMO covers certain immunizations for foreign travel at no cost to you.4
