Get Back on Track after the Holidays

During the holidays, it may seem like we’re moving 100 miles per hour. For many, the last two months of every year are filled with family, gatherings, shopping – and lots of cooking! And many of us also zoom right into the New Year without taking time to clear our minds and re-energize our bodies with regular exercise and a healthy diet. Don’t let this happen to you!

Here are a few tips on getting back into your pre-holiday groove.

  • Start slow when beginning an exercise program
If you haven’t exercised for a couple of months, give your body time to re-adjust. Whether you run, walk, bike, or hike, try some shorter distances at first. Start off with less intensity. Your body will tell you when it’s time to kick it up a notch.
  • Keep your diet healthy
Get back on track with healthy eating—and keep it interesting by adding variety. Choose a mix of seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables, legumes, and lean proteins. Look for recipes that challenge you to find new ways to eat and feel well.
  • Accept our challenge
We have just the tool to get you motivated for healthy change – no matter what your focus is – exercise, eating more fruits and vegetables, or relaxing more to re-energize. The “New Year, New You” online challenge offers an easy way to track your progress for one month. To accept the challenge, log in, click on Wellness Center > Explore All Wellness Tools > Challenges.
