When you need health care, knowing your Health Net of California, Inc. (Health Net) Blue & Gold HMO options can save time and even money.
- Always carry your ID card
Your ID card gives you access to medical care, and it names your Blue & Gold HMO network primary care physician (called a PCP). If you do leave home without it, you can view your ID card using the Health Net Mobile app My ID Card feature.
- Call your PCP
Your PCP provides and coordinates your medical care. If you need specialty care or other services, contact your PCP for a referral within your medical group. If your Blue & Gold HMO PCP is in the Canopy Health alliance, you have even more specialty care choices.
Tip: Because your health plan does not pay for most services from out-of-network doctors, make sure any doctor you see is in the Blue & Gold HMO network.

- Have a virtual doctor visit from any device
Health Net Blue & Gold HMO members can also use MDLIVE for a virtual care consultation via smartphone, tablet or computer for a $0 copayment!
- Consider urgent care
Choosing urgent care instead of the emergency room can help you wait less, pay a lower copayment and get the care you need for non-life-threatening situations. Find a Blue & Gold HMO urgent care provider near you by using ProviderSearch. In an emergency, always call 911 immediately or go to the nearest ER.
